After about an hour or so, after we've finished drinking our coffee and are getting ready to leave, I tell them that I've really enjoyed meeting them, and that I would like to get together again (if thats true). I don't mean to imply that I stick to this same format everytime..just a general idea of what happens. Maybe you need to get out and find something else to do for a first meet? I'm guessing that sitting around during the day in a Starbucks isn't all that interesting and may cause two exciting people to look rather boring to eachother.
While I prefer coffee dates when meeting someone for the first time, they do seem to set the stage for a friendship connection instead of something more. But I would definitely discuss before meeting for coffee that if it is mutually agreeable, the meeting could continue into something more fun, like going out to listen to music, take a walk and talk, have a cocktail, maybe have dinner, etc. That gives you something interesting to talk about, and you don't appear to be a boring individual. I think it's best no matter where you meet to always keep the first encounter a short one (even if there are sparks). So stop thinking of it as a coffee date, think of it as a coffee meeting and possibly more. Some ladies here will tell you they don't like that, but deep down inside they really do if they have any sort of fun personality. You just haven't met anyone who you have chemistry with yet.Plentyoffish dating forums are a place to meet singles and get dating advice or share dating experiences etc.
Hopefully you will all have fun meeting singles and try out this online dating thing...For the next hour or so, we usually talk about "neutral" topics, such as work, school, family, hobbies, etc.
